Reckon big business have too much power?
You’re not alone – nearly two thirds of Australians think so too.
That’s not all. Eighty percent of people want to see the Federal government change work laws to make it harder for these same big businesses to commit wage theft.
And 65 percent agree that employees and labour hire workers should be paid the same if they are doing the same job.
These statistics and more are the result of a recent independent poll commissioned by the ACTU, which shows that Australians don’t trust big business.
Want to see changes to our work laws that improve workers’ rights and pay, and stop big business getting away with exploiting legal loopholes?
Get behind the campaign to close the loopholes
Big business have spent tens of millions of dollars to influence politicians not to pass these changes that will make a difference to millions of workers’ lives.
But this poll shows that more and more workers can see through the lies big business have been peddling, simply to protect their profits.
Australians voted for a Labor Government to get wages moving and deliver fairer workplaces. This Closing Loopholes Bill will deliver better rights and better wages – which will make such a difference to workers’ lives during this cost-of-living crisis.
Big business will do and say anything to delay or stop these laws. Every day of delay saves them money and costs working people.
Working people can’t wait. In a cost-of-living crisis, there is no excuse for choosing higher profits for big business over wage increases. We need to close the loopholes.
